Itty Bitty Minis

So...as I pack my bags to head to the sunshine state, I stop at Duane Reade to buy the TRAVEL SIZE of everything I already have in NORMAL SIZE. It seems silly that I have to buy the small deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo...etc etc etc. I already have everything I need but for some reason I can't take it and because it's more than 3 oz.

I find myself obsessed over these mini things...these beautiful wonderful tiny things. They appear to be so much more awesome than their parents. Afterall, where do these little baby shampoos come from? Duh, the adult shampoos :-) Alas, I want to buy everything they have, but I restrain myself. I am trying to save space in my suitcase. That is I suppose what they're for anyway. Besides, I will most defintely need the room to bring back all of the little magnets and key chains I plan to buy for my friends... You know the cheap little things. I love them. And I can guarantee you buy them for your peeps too.

Peace out New Yawk. Off to the west coast. Will return next week with loads of outlandish stories of my adventures there.

Barely the Time

Yeah. I'm about to leave for San Francisco Saturday morning. Never been before. Can't wait. Need to get out of oppressive NYC. It's dragging me down. Not much to say. Very busy day. Tired as hell. Trying to get as much work done as possible so that when I return I'm not stuck in a hole. Yes. I'm boring today.

Gradually and then suddenly...

Ever feel like your work is burying you alive? I find this happens much more when you leave for a vacation... I notice that my co-workers are sending me more and more emails in anticipation of my absence. I feel stressed, violated and overwhelmed to the brink of insanity. To the point where I may leave for my trip and never come back. Oh...to escape from this tyrant city and hide out in a faraway island with no phone...email...NOTHING. Only silence...peace...quiet can be my companions! I find myself saying all too often "I CANNOT TAKE IT ANYMORE!" When will the statement be finally true? When is enough really enough? And when is the right time to take action?

I have this lingering fear that possesses me at points where I realize that ENOUGH was probably a few months or a year ago...and I missed it. So. What do you do when that happens?

A Tad Weepy

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken
~Sonnet 116, William Shakespeare

I have fallen head over heals in love with Jeanette Winterson. Her book WRITTEN ON THE BODY is absolutely amazing. On the subway this morning, I realized that I only had ten pages left in the book. So...when I got to work...I ordered seven more of her books at Strand. She's like crack man!

And so are the days of our lives...

Life is hard. Dammit. It really is funny and scary to get into a tiff with your best friend over whose relationship is more rocky. Why do they have to be so difficult? Relationships...and why can't we accept that they are hard and support each other...instead of trying to prove a point...and win the title of LEAST FUCKED UP RELATIONSHIP!!! Oh...what a prize?!?

So....Yeah...Me

I tend to be a procrastinator. A big one. I have never suffered greatly as a result of this...however...I have nearly lost it several times due to this affliction.

Here are the professions I have aspired to:
Teacher
Pediatrician
Veterinarian
Architect
Archeologist
FBI Agent
Nurse
Film Director
Actress
Screenwriter
Journalist
Travel Writer
Development Director for Non-profit
Grant Writer
...and many, many more that I can't think of.

As you can see GROUP EVENTS COORDIATOR (the job I have that pays my bills) and BLOGGER (this little thing I'm doing now) are not on the list. Alas...shit happens. And you fall down the rabbitt hole. And you take your good 'ole time getting out. That's where I'm at now. Somewhere in between. But angsty enough to know that I will NOT settle for the sitch that I'm in.

***Disclaimer: Now that you're equipped with this knowledge about me and my type... Realize that I may not be faithful to this blog ... EXPECT GREAT THINGS FOR ME... JUST DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!
